Cristiano Pintaldi

Cristiano Pintaldi (Rome, 1970) has, since 1991, worked exclusively with the three primary colors—red, green, and blue—on a black background, echoing the structure of television pixels. His subjects, drawn from popular culture, cartoons, science fiction films, and key historical events, are meticulously constructed through a one-centimeter grid applied with an airbrush in successive layers, a process that reveals the image only at its completion. Among his recurring symbols are the eye, the lightning bolt, the Pope, and the mask—icons that, for Pintaldi, act as keys to interpreting contemporary reality.
