Matteo Pugliese
Matteo Pugliese (b. 1969, Milan) spent much of his youth in Sardinia before graduating in Modern Literature at the University of Milan in 1995. A self-taught sculptor, he organized his first solo exhibition in Milan in 2001 and, soon after, began exhibiting internationally.
He is best known for his Extra Moenia series, powerful figures emerging from walls as if striving for freedom, and for the Guardians, works that embody protection and resilience. Over the years, Pugliese has held more than twenty solo exhibitions in cities such as Hong Kong, New York, London, and Rome, and has participated in major international art fairs including FIAC (Paris) and Arco (Madrid). He lives and works in Milan with his wife and daughter.
